Vintage Franklin Mint Commemorative Chronometer celebrating the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. This chronometer was commissioned by the National Maritime Historical Society in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. It was issued by Franklin Mint in 1992 to commemorate Columbus discovering America in 1492. This timepiece is in a three-tiered solid hardwood case bearing a commemorative medallion that is electroplated in 24 karat gold and crafted with solid brass fittings and etched brasswork. The quartz clock takes 1 AA battery (included). The clock has been tested and it works. The clock face is protected by a beveled glass cover. This is a beautiful piece that would make a great addition to any collection! The chronometer case is 7" tall, by 7-5/8" across, by 7-5/8" wide. The clock face is 3-5/8" across.
