$123 · Grain Seed (originally seeds from Salt Spring Seeds)

Are you adding gardening to your winter/spring learning year? This is a great project to do with kids on food sustainability, how much you need to grow to make a muffin, a loaf of bread, a cake; how to process it (there are videos online for home threshing). I have two small bins filled with a variety of grain seeds originally from Salt Spring Seeds (check them out for more information on each seed). Several of these are overwintering seeds that help protect against erosion, provides mulch and builds soil. Oats, which I have the most of in this bunch are best planted in early fall for the most bang for buck.
