Set of antique cast iron andirons (aka firedogs) with removable braces. Air circulation is critical for a beautiful fire: with andirons, firewood is laid on the braces, holding it off the bottom of the fireplace, thus allowing better burning and less smoke; the decorative figures at the front stop the logs from rolling out into the room. Markings are not evident, but this set is believed to be Bradley & Hubbard, Meriden, Connecticut, circa 1886-1900. Each andiron and brace measures roughly 12" tall by 17" deep.
