McLean, Lizotte, Wheadon and Co., Chartered Professional Accountants is a busy mid-sized firm of 6 partners, with two offices located in Victoria and on Salt Spring Island. We offer our clients a full range of accounting and tax services. The Victoria office is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, seeking a career in public practice, to join their team on a full time basis. The Administrative and Accounting Assistant will be responsible for office and accounting support services. Standard hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, with overtime expected in March and April. Hours can be negotiated based on individual circumstances. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following duties: * Bookkeeping and data entry * Assisting in the preparation of personal, corporate, estate and trust tax returns * Front desk and phone reception * Filing documents and office organization * Supply orders, courier, and mail distribution * Other general administrative and accounting related tasks Skills and experience required: * Knowledge of office and administrative procedures * Efficient speed and accuracy in data entry/keyboard skills * Proficiency with PC applications, primarily Microsoft Word and Excel * Experience with Caseware, Profile, Sage and QuickBooks is an asset * Ideally, a minimum of 2 years experience working in a public practice accounting firm * Knowledge of general accounting principles * Adherence to high standards of professional and ethical conduct * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Well organized with exceptional attention to detail * Self-motivated, while being a team player. * A fast learner with an analytical mind * Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet regular deadlines Compensation is based on the candidate's experience.
