MEET UP MORNINGS NEAR FORT AND COOK Excellent condition, very clean, no stains, smells or damage. The carafe is as new and was specially made to hold a melitta pour over coffee filter cone. It holds .75 litre which is 25.3 ounces (approx 3 measuring cups of 8 oz each). Use up to about 6 TB max of coffee grounds to make 3 cups (a full carafe). The glass liner retains heat very well, quality made in Germany to last! It’s easy to pour without removing the lid, just turn the lid counter-clockwise half way so the little raised piece is pointing to the spout. Pours really well without dripping! The Melitta pour over cone was MADE IN CANADA, it is a “2 cup” size but easily accommodates more. I have included 10 homemade filters, 8 are disposable paper ones and 2 are new reusable organic cotton muslin ones. The disposable ones are compostable, as they are made from basket size coffee filters (I can’t waste stuff!) and made with cotton thread. They are made larger than the cone intentionally to accommodate more coffee grounds and to allow for any shrinkage of the cotton. The reusable ones are best if just emptied out of coffee grounds and rinsed out under the tap then kept wet in the fridge in a little jar of water or inside a ziplock bag. Just rinse under hot water when ready to put the grounds in. Wash with laundry every week if using daily, but don’t put it in the dryer, or just wash it by hand under the tap. They will last a long time. I have shown a photo with the max amount of 6 TB of coffee so you can see how it will work. The melitta cone fits nice and snug in the carafe and just tilt it sideways a little to insert it or remove it from the carafe. It’s great to make the coffee directly into the carafe keeping it piping hot. The cone is older, the new ones they make don’t fit in the carafe.p, the base is far too wide to insert. They were made around the same time purposefully to fit. Likely in the 70-80’s. I don’t remember if they made a 3 or 4 cup one to fit inside. Glass liners are my preference as it leaves no taste the way steel or aluminum sometimes can. It has lasted many years and will last many more if it isn’t dropped too hard! It’s easy to clean the carafe as the opening is wide enough to put your hand in with a cloth right to the bottom. I did a “heat retention” test putting boiling water (200F) water in it. After 8 hours it was 155F. According to the web “the preferred drinking temperature of coffee is specified in the literature as 120-140F”. So even after 8 hours it is still hotter than the recommended drinking temperature. Stays hot longer than you need it to likely! Cold liquids would stay colder for a much longer period.
