If you are looking to resurface and refinish (with a wood finish) or paint and not exactly sure how to go about it but don't want to spend an absorbatent amount of money or end up with a screwed up job, maybe you need to get someone experienced who can do it at a reduced rate: painting companies don't like doing cabinets because the don't know how to dismantle and re-attach the doors; Generally I have set up shop areas in people's basements or garage/carport with poly, cardboard and drop cloths.
