We seek an experienced professional bookkeeper who can set up new files in Sage or QuickBooks Online, manage multiple clients in multiple industries using a variety of software and processes to suit the needs of the individual client and work independently with minimal supervision. Accounting, T1 and/or T2 experience an asset. The job is part time to start, leading to full time if you like it. Your hours will be widely flexible, and you will work primarily from home. You will need a computer at home to log into your workstation from home, but you will access our software and data files remotely. Nothing will be stored on your machine except a small VPN program. You will have plenty of support by phone, Zoom or in-person meeting from our administration team, managing partner, administrative partner and other bookkeepers. We are a small, laid-back firm with interesting clients and comfortable digs. No need for suits and ties – we like to be comfortable when we work. However, we are growing, and need more staff. Our supportive environment comes with a competitive benefits package after 6 months. Please note: You will primarily work from home, but this is NOT a remote job. You must live in range to commute into the office as needed. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Bookkeeping: • Complete monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping using primarily QuickBooks Online and Sage 50, but also companion programs such as Excel, Dext or other supporting software. • Reconcile accounts and produce draft financial statements for client's review. • Prepare and file government reports including GST and PST reports. • Liaise with client to obtain additional information or clarification when necessary and manage your deadlines effectively. Payroll: • Complete bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll in Sage 50, QuickBooks desktop, QuickBooks Online, using information provided by clients. • Set up new employees including tax rates, special pay and deductions. • Prepare and file government reports including PD7A (payroll remittance), WCB, ROEs and T4s. QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 5 years experience in bookkeeping for multiple clients in multiple industries. • Proficient in Sage 50, QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Experience in other software an asset. QBO and/or Sage Certification an asset • Excellent verbal and written English communication • Organizational skills and attention to detail. • Team player who can work under pressure and meet deadlines. • An interest in continuing education and professional development. • Experience with Canadian personal/corporate/estate taxes would be an asset but is not required.
