Parents, are you concerned about the history and geography lessons your child is missing in Elementary School? 1st Nations awareness lessons, which are wonderful, have superseded a lot of what was once taught in BC schools. Traditionally, in Social Studies, Grade 5 was Canada – history and geography, Grade 6 was the study of a modern country and Grade 7 was Ancient Cultures. All of these studies built a framework by which to acquire wider and deeper knowledge in the higher grades. The worst phrase that I hear all too often from both adults and children is “history is boring”. If you are concerned that your child is missing some of these topics, consider coming to me for lessons to fill in the gaps. I taught History in local and International private schools for years, and I want to keep the flame of interest alive in these next generations I tutor in my home, in a dedicated office, in the View Royal area.
