  • AuthorStewart Nelson

This is an amazing miniature book with a significant history. Stewart Nelson wrote this in 1943 as a graduation speech to his students at K.U.H.S. in Western Australia. His thoughtful message re: Post WW2 economic recovery is tied to his closing thoughts to this leaving class. Please see the image of the last page and read his hopes for the future. The book is inscribed by the author to Eileen, a friend of some importance. In the inscription, Nelson refers to an address on page 7 of his book. While there is no address in the text, a small newspaper clipping is enclosed in the pages. This article refers to a Mrs. Cugley, of Vincent St., Mt. Lawley, near Perth, Western Australia, who visited her daughter in America. This daughter was married to Stewart Nelson, Professor of Economics and Science at Done (sic) University in Crete, Nebraska. The book measures 5" X 3", and is in excellent condition. The cut-out dust cover is embossed with gold, as is the blue leather cover of the book. The central spine is stapled, and there is a small amount of rust on these fasteners. There is some foxing, particularly on the last page, and inside the front cover. This book is not available on any other market site, which makes it exceptionally rare.
