Puppy for Rehoming Name: Nixia (Knee-sha) Breed: Border Collie/Husky/Rottweiler/Pit mix (as disclosed by previous owners) Age: About 4 months (born around April 16, 2025, as disclosed by previous owners) Weight: 35 lbs as of Aug 14 Vaccines: Enrolled in the “Healthy Start Program” at Prevost Veterinary Clinic in Duncan. She has received her first two vaccines (Aug 14) and is scheduled for her boosters and rabies vaccine on Sept 12 at 3:20. Her spay is already scheduled for Aug 28, 2026. Temperament: Energetic, clever, food motivated, affectionate Good with: Dogs, the cat she currently lives with, respectful older children Training: Working on potty training, leash manners, and basic commands About Nixia: My family received this sweet puppy on June 20 from another family who told us she and her littermates were an “oops” troop. Since then, we’ve found her to be clever, playful, affectionate and very full of life. She is also very food motivated which makes training easier. Nixia is a collie and husky mix at her core. She is strong, healthy, and bursting with energy. She loves being outdoors and going on walks, although she is still learning not to snap at her leash. Indoors, she runs about with plenty of puppy enthusiasm, trying to get everyone to play with her. Her favorite game is tug of war, though once she tires out, she happily curls up on the sofa for head scratches and tummy rubs. She sleeps through the night. We let her out around 5:30 in the morning. Most mornings she has held her bladder, though now and then she has had an accident. During the day she usually goes outside to do her business, but accidents still happen, especially if routines slip. She lives with a cat. She does try to chase her, but it is only playful. There is no aggression, and the cat tolerates her. I cannot say how she would do with a new cat, as she has known this one since she was 8 weeks old. She has also met many dogs at the park, showing no aggression. Wrestling is her preferred game, which can be a lot for dogs her size or smaller, while larger dogs tend to earn her respect. Our son is 7 years old, and while she tries to play with him, her weight and energy often overwhelm him. She has never been aggressive, but she can be too much for small children. Because of this, I recommend she go to a home with no children, older children, or children who already have experience with larger breed puppies and know how to set boundaries. She has not displayed aggression toward people. She has never purposely bitten anyone, whether family or strangers on the street. Like many puppies, she does get snippy when playing tug of war, and she sometimes mouths hands when she wants to play, but she redirects easily to her toys. We love her dearly, but due to changing family dynamics, we cannot provide her with the attention, consistency, and care she deserves. This is incredibly hard for me and will be devastating to my son, but sometimes doing what is best for someone means making the painful choice. The right home for Nixia: A family with a fenced yard, ideally with grass, as she is still teething and will chew on small stones if given the chance Owners with experience raising mid to large breed dogs An active family who can give her the exercise she needs to thrive A home with no children, older children, or children confident with larger breed puppies A family willing to continue her training and, ideally, follow through with her vaccines and spay appointments at Prevost Veterinary Clinic (though we understand circumstances differ) Rehoming fee: $200. This is not about profit but about ensuring she goes to a serious and responsible home. When she goes to her new family, we will provide her toys, treats, bed, and food. We’ve attached several photos so you can see for yourself that she is strong, healthy, beautiful, and a sweet girl. We hope the right family for Nixia is out there and that she will find the love and attention she deserves. Thank you for taking the time to read through all of this, and I hope to be in contact with the right family soon.
