Fireplace Service Technician

Opportunity/Summary Pacific Fireplaces is Victoria’s premier fireplace & heat pump company and has been serving greater Victoria’s needs for over 25 years. We specialize in fireplaces of all types including Natural Gas, Propane, Electric, Wood, as well as Ductless Heat Pumps. Pacific Fireplaces is looking for a knowledgeable and meticulous fireplace service technician who is still willing to learn. Candidate will be familiar and comfortable with the concepts of combustion, gas supply, venting, and electronic controls. Position may expand to service other appliance types depending on specific candidates expertise & abilities. Key Responsibilities and Functions may include but are not limited to the following: Service & repairs on a large variety of gas fireplaces (IPI & Standing Pilot) Strong emphasis on client safety and strict adherence to gas code compliance Learning the ins and outs of how to use, install, diagnose, and repair fireplaces of various brands and fuel types Installations & ability to do a final / first fire on other technician’s installation jobs. Willing and eager to learn a large variety of fireplace & heating products, theory, and practical knowledge Respectable appearance & great attitude appropriate for being inside customers’ homes Ability to work independently, which most service work is, and lead an apprentice. Good working knowledge of computers & iphone Technical proclivity – ability & willingness to learn new control & valve systems and understand the proper diagnostic techniques and processes for troubleshooting. Some heavy lifting Use of field service software via iphone to document all service, repairs & parts ordering & bill client Ability to look up appliances and correctly interpret manuals on appliances new to the technician while in field Ability to clearly communicate potentially sensitive topics such as safety concerns with client directly Skills and Qualifications: "A", "B", or "C" gas ticket or Gas Service technician qualification Minimum grade 12 education Preferred: Minimum 2 years experience servicing gas appliances Valid Driver's license in good standing Assets: Gas Fireplace Experience Electrical / electronics experience Experience with Heat Pump Installation / Service Job Type: Journeyman – Service Technician Hours: 25-50 hours per week, seasonal Job Types: Full-time / Part-time, Permanent Expected Salary: $38-$48, dependent on experience
