2001 Dodge Durango R/T – Strong V8, Ready to Tow or Camp! This is the R/T model with the 5.9L V8 Magnum engine AWD + 4x4 high, 4x4 Low — originally a Victoria Police vehicle. I’m the second owner, and we’ve had it for years, mostly for skiing trips in the winter and towing a boat in the summer. Lately, we’ve been using it to tow our 20-ft travel trailer, and it handled it like a champ — definitely has the power for larger trailers. Fuel economy is about what you’d expect from a V8. We actually tested it once on a trip from Vancouver to Big White, and my buddy’s Toyota 4Runner only used 2 liters less — not bad! It’s in good shape: Strong engine, no oil leaks No issues ever with the transmission New shocks (front & back) last year, New headlights, New battery, Good tires and brakes Comes with 4 extra tires on rims (rubber is worn, but rims are still good) It has E brake controller installed and working great. Interior seats 7, seats fold flat — great for camping. Fully loaded for 2001: leather, heated seats, power everything, A/C blows cold. I did have an issue with the front wiper motor a few years back, but fixed it with a separate switch — it’s worked fine ever since. Windshield was recently replaced — no cracks or chips. Great old-school tow rig or camping vehicle. With the right owner, I think it’s got a few more solid years of trailer or boat towing left in it at a fraction of new truck cost.
