For the hobbyist - complete system except for streamer, you could pick up a Wiim mini for around $100 new and be done. Quad Lite mini monitors plus perfectly matching heavy iron stands - beautiful sounding speakers with typical Quad lush midrange, unfortunately one speaker is starting to malfunction a bit - very rarely, but it happens - if you don't play them for a while one bass driver seems to take a couple of seconds to start playing when you fire them up. Also included are a pair of Kanto S4 iron desktop stands Dayton 60 watt Tripath amplifier - beautiful sounding smooth (when it warms up) amp - but has static when you adjust the volume, deoxit would probably fix it for another decade DSpeaker Antimode 2.0 balanced DAC with Simplifi Audio ULN-2 external power supply - no issues here, has both balanced and unbalanced inputs - is also a good ADC (analog to digital) converter. The outboard power supply is no toy - it's made for this DAC alone, all bets are off if you plug something else into it I have used this very system recently and if you set the Quads up within 3 feet of your listening position, you are in for a minimonitor experience about as good as it gets spatially and tonally.
