The APPLE SHACK is OPEN for the season. The apples are smaller this year and not in abundance. This is the year to embrace "ugly fruit" lucky the marks are on the skin and the inside tasty. You may be lucky to take home a little worm - which just goes to show you that organic growing doesn't mean pretty, it means fabulous flavours. Taste, weigh, buy and enjoy them :) October 14th Update: APPLES: Akane, Ambrosia (very ugly skins), Belle de Boskoop (aka Boskop), Blondee, Elstar (more ugly), Gala, Honey Crisp, King and our newest, Salish are waiting for you. A very few left of: Discovery & Gravenstien. Again, skins are ugly, many bruised and animal peck marks are free! The inside is great. If you chose not to spray, you get ugly skins. PEARS: Asian Pears (maybe 10 # left) Concorde Pears (look like stretched Bartletts), Bartletts and a few Bosc Pears. Green now and will ripen at your house! GRAPES: Concord Table Grapes are delish. $5.00 a bag fresh picked daily until season is over (two more weeks). There are a (very) few white and italian varietal table grape that will be put out when ready - one or two bag if we are lucky so grab them if you see them!
