Classic second generation Subaru Outback. Runs like a dream, looks great as well, and has never let us down. I have had nine Subarus over the last 30 years, and must say I really love this one. However, our up-island commuting days are coming to an end, so the Subaru has become a bit redundant.. Report Card: Mechanical 8.5/10 - H. Gasket, Water Pump and timing belt done at 172k, work just done last month includes: new alternator, belt, sensors, battery and front brakes ($1650 in maintenance). Nothing really to fault it on. The kms. are relatively low for the year and there is not really any upcoming maintenance. Basically get in, turn the key and drive it! Body - 8.5/10 - Nice and straight with very few scratches or dings and hardly any rust. Original paint still shines up beautifully. Interior and aesthetics - 9/10 - the interior is gorgeous, no dogs , no rips, stains, smokers or messy rugrats. Everything works well, hot in winter, cool in summer, and the heated seats and roof racks are a nice bonus. Being 20+ years old, it's not perfect, but it IS a really good example of a second generation Outback, which many Subaru aficionados consider to be the best generation. It's a solid beast which has many more years of life ahead of it.
